Mechanical Engineer

Tiger Optics is currently in search of a creative and experienced Mechanical Engineer who will be responsible for the design and development of laser-based instrumentation for trace gas analysis.  The ideal candidate will be someone who is a self-starter, and capable of handling multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment; they must also be a strong team player, with solid organization and time management skills.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work in a fast-paced, innovative environment where you will lead the efforts in the design of opto-mechanical systems (laser-based molecular gas analyzers)
  • Collaborate with other scientists, engineers and manufacturing staff, and contribute input to the product design, enhancements, and development of its opto-mechanical systems
  • Ability to design for manufacturability
  • Develop component specifications, assemblies, and BOMs
  • Work with vendors and suppliers in the selection and specifications of mechanical components and systems
  • Perform mechanical testing, including but not limited to thermal and vibration tests
  • Apply knowledge of engineering practices and principles to the design of Tiger products

Job Requirements:

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience working in and with mechanical design
  • Required knowledge and experience working with 2D and 3D CAD software; specifically Solidworks experience preferred
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.  A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected in this position
  • Experience working with high purity gas delivery systems a plus
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
